Make your dream a reality with a professionally planned wedding or social event at the House of Laurels, a Maleny wedding venue located on the magical Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Queensland, Australia.
House of Laurels is set in the heart of the beautiful Sunshine coast hinterland in between Maleny and Montville . Built by a local builder/furniture craftsman John Whan took on the project with his family, stretching over 5 years starting in 1980. Our current commercial kitchen was his furniture work shop, where each part of the colonial house was fine-tuned and turned. With his attention to detail and nothing but the finest materials, some of the windows and doors which were retrieved from Brisbane’s Land office which was built in 1864 then turned into the Magistrates office which then was torn down in the late 70’s when Adelaide street was extended.
Also the windows in our Summer House which is located in our Roman Courtyard came from the old Ipswich General Hospital when it was torn down to make way for the new hospital. The windows in the main reception pavilion came from Lady Musgrave House located on Astor Terrace in Brisbane. What was to follow was his desire to start his next venture and the property was sold in 1990 and became a commercial property.
With a colourful history, the commercial property then started as a high end restaurant and guest house named Zamaz, with a helipad for guests arrival for 10 years, to continue to change to an Indian restaurant by their predecessors. Another change of hands, with the intention to develop it into a high end day spa, eventuated to become House of Laurels, wedding and function venue, named after the Laurel trees on the property.
Each owner having added their touch and expansion, extension and additions in became the magical setting it is today. It is from that point on that many couples dreams came true in union with memories to last a lifetime. With magical gardens and the expansion of a fairy lit glass roof reception room, a romantic setting is offered. A roman courtyard hosts your pre dinner drinks or enjoy the garden in its bloom.
